Continuously a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, and now as your Democratic candidate running for mayor, it is my honor to be able to put into action, and to good use, the many years I’ve spent in engagement and service to our community. It has been a very rewarding journey for my family and for me, filled with rich and enlightening moments during my roles as volunteer, a most recently City of Philadelphia committeeman, ministerial-leader, entrepreneur, as an advocate for education, jobs, equal rights, union rights and labor rights, and especially, as your neighbor.
Initially, I did not concentrate on the upcoming available mayoral seat as part of my beginning journey for the 2023 mayoral run. However, being a late bloomer that I am, through consultation with family, pastor, friends and neighbors, I came to realize that my journey had been preparing and positioning me in a unique way to serve our community as mayor.
In my view, to run for the seat of mayor is not only a privilege, but an opportunity to make change where we need it, to continue the course of progress that our city deserves, and to advance conversations that need more hope. These actions cannot and should not, happen without your support and your voice. Together, we may expect great changes.
I believe in a Philadelphia where everyone has a seat… at the table. Where views are discussed in an equal and fair environment, and no one is left feeling unappreciated.
Since running for office, we have worked diligently to improve the quality of life for all the communities that make up Philadelphia. In addition, we have made many strides to not only uplift the entire city including establishing prayer vigils; organizing cupboards; creating community programs; providing services and trainings; leading the effort to increase the city’s minimum wage to $15; adding proposals for companies with a diverse volunteer workforce; bringing attention and thus more resources studies about mental health and social health; and helping the unemployed find the best employers that care about their employees.
I am asking you to join me on the journey run for mayor 2023, and humbly request your involvement and help through making suggestions, sharing of information, offering creative ideas or simply by volunteering. I am confident that together, we can advance a solid and common vision for our city.
Thank you, Community Organizer, Warren Bloom

CITYWIDE ACTIVISM

Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” As far back as I can remember about my plans to become successful in activist work, one individual I have worked with for many years was Jerry Mondesire. What I have to say is, in a way he was my protégé.
I’ve always been interested in activism. This probably stemmed from my first career as an activist, musician and videographer. I’ve been interested in mentoring since my start in the photography field and as an entrepreneur looking for developmental opportunities for my staff. (Developmental activities included job enrichment, coaching, mentoring, playing instruments, job rotations, activism, and job shadowing.)
I was fortunate enough to have Mondesire as a wonderful male mentor.
Nevertheless, activism is something that I have known about since I was in my youth; then, my activism skills advanced even further when I worked in the field with as many civil rights champions of the day that I was able to work with, such as Mondesire and others.
I knew about opportunities across the activism field better; I accepted the many invites to attend meetings and peaceful protests along with other activist. In turn, I engaged in conversations about my goals, power dynamics in the workplace and home, and the spirit of the battle issues in the field.
I found joy to have mentored former colleagues within and outside the organizations I served.
